Whitthorne Weekly March 29 2021.docx

IMPORTANT...We will host our make-up virtual parent/teacher conferences on Tuesday, March 30th.  We are also going to have our drive-thru report card pickup AND cookie dough pick up that afternoon as well.

On March 26, our 7th and 8th grade students received virtual presentations from EdSouth.  They were given the ability to take career assessments and information about high school transition and how to find colleges to fit career goals.
The EdSouth website offers multiple resources for students and families including: ecampus tours of colleges, financial literacy information and more.  Check them out at Edsouth.org

Our 8th grade students received a presentation focused on transitioning into high school. Here is a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIxv_Lgql0Q

Our 7th grade students' presentation focused on using the College and Career Planning system.  Here is a link to the video:  zoom_1.mp4

To create accounts for career planning, students need to go to www.planningyourdreams.org

The Tennessee College and Career Planning System powered by Kuder ® steps students through learning about themselves, exploring career options, making a plan for education, preparing for the world of work, and more.
The school activation code is N6296389WFB. The assessments are free until June 30, 2021 but the portfolio is free for a lifetime if you log in once a year to keep it active.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) changes student's lives.
Studies show that SEL provides many benefits to students—from improved social-emotional skills, well-being, and behavior to improved academic outcomes—and these results are long-term and global, with proven positive impact up to 18 years later on academics, conduct problems, and emotional distress. Join The Urban Assembly and SEL4US as they celebrate the second annual International SEL Day on March 26, 2021.

Needed:  If you have WMS pictures of students/groups that were taken this year (events, dress-up days, snow days, etc.) that you'd be willing to email for our yearbook, please send those asap to khaynes@mauryk12.org.
THANK YOU!

If your student is remote, and you would like to receive a paper copy of the progress report, please email me at cskaggs@mauryk12.org with your students' name, grade and current home address.

If you or anyone you know has a child/children in need of breakfast or lunch (under the age of 18), they can come to the parking lot behind the cafeteria to pick up meals between 9 and 12.  This does not have to be a Whitthorne student; any child can receive.
